LECTURE DETAILS:
In this lecture, Russ discussed the different aspects of Utility & Energy Management and provide an overview of an electrical engineering career in utility management as an alternative to network design.
Russ described his overall responsibilities and the different challenges faced by a Utilities manager. The aim of the talk was to help students looking to move into the working world, to understand the employers’ requirements, detail the options that are available to them (beyond the usual), and show how skills gained through their studies or research can be utilised and applied in different industries.
SPEAKER’S BIOGRAPHY:
Mr. Russ Comrie is Energy & Utilities Manager at Cargill, Manchester, a company that has over 170,000 employees worldwide and provides food, agriculture, financial and industrial products and services to the world.
He has over 30 years’ experience in manufacturing and engineering and is responsible for the site’s steam and power generation produced onsite through a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plant. He is also highly experienced in energy economics, energy improvement projects, operating and maintaining high value capital plant. His long career afforded him opportunities to develop expertise in building automatic meter reading (AMR) systems for energy analysis and key performance indicators (KPI) targeting and monitoring.
